OUR MISSION

The National League of POW/MIA Families, incorporated on May 28, 1970, was formed with the threefold mission to obtain the release of all prisoners of war, the fullest possible accounting for the missing and repatriation of all recoverable remains of those who died serving our nation during the Vietnam War. Without the League, America's POW/MIAs would long ago have been forgotten. The League is proud that our efforts led to today's worldwide Accounting Mission and contributed to humanitarian and diplomatic normalization efforts. We are also proud that our flag is universally and legally recognized as the symbol of America's commitment to account for our POW/MIAs.

Today, in pursuit of our threefold mission, we utilize our influence and platform. We continue to represent the many families of those still missing and unaccounted for and to hold the DPAA and U.S. Government accountable to their promises to pursue and expand their efforts globally while primarily focusing on Vietnam War Missing. We help expand domestic public awareness efforts, aid in archival research projects, and promote public education on POW/MIAs and the Accounting Mission. Finally, we aim to build and maintain diplomatic ties through delegations to Southeast Asia to advocate to their governments to continue to help with the Accounting Mission.
